St Patricks Primary School Mortlake was a new school build in conjunction with builder Reitsma Constructions. The architects on the project were Gladesville based Quinn O’Hanlon Architects Pty Ltd. The electrical Consultant was JHA and the client was Sydney Catholic Schools.
St Patricks Primary School consists of 3 levels totalling approx. 5300 square metres of floor space. This building has a basement level which caters for 25 carpark spaces. The Ground Floor includes 7x General Learning Rooms, full functional canteen, Foyer, Principle and general office areas, Amenities & Sports Store. The First Floor Area which consists of high feature ceilings includes large learning Common Areas, 6x General Learning Rooms & relevant staff rooms.
The Electrical component of this project included the design and implementation of all required switchboard works, consumer/sub mains, power factor correction unit, wireless smart energy monitoring system, general /emergency lighting, lighting control (C- Bus), general power, fans/fans controllers, mechanical /hydraulic power, fire system, MATV system, 14kW solar system, lighting protection system, cable support reticulation, Security/CCTV system, communications system. Also included testing and commissioning of all above mentioned electrical components. The Finalisation of AS- Built Drawings and manuals for the completed project. Completed and managed all training on all electrical components of this project to the staff/clients involved in this project.
GCA Electrical Australia were involved with the design stage, regarding all the Electrical, Communications, security, and fire components on this project. The Electrical Consultant JHA worked closely with Stephen Bissett in aspects of design and engaged Stephen to play a fundamental role in this process due to his high level of expertise for high end commercial projects and was able to ensure that once completed this project was to the highest standards.
GCA Electrical utilised the latest technologies for this project. The Solar panels originally specified for this installation were outdated, we sourced newly designed panels which incorporated that latest technology, and which produced a higher yield of power generation. Because of increasing the efficiency of the Solar Panels, we were able to reduce the number of panels for the installation. GCA Electrical tried to incorporate all the latest methodologies to maximise the efficiency throughout the project.
This school was a pilot site for Catholic Sydney Schools Office – It was a brand new building for the site of the school for the suburb of Mortlake. The project itself stands out as its design and build is based on the new innovation of increasing it design standards for future Sydney schools in the diocese. This new design supports their future teaching pedagogy and has the latest in design standards to suit modern teaching spaces .
